In my experience with Google, I have come to realize one of life’s true ironies: You’re going to love this, when you advertise on Google, you are advertising on a system designed to give its users what they want right now. OK – Here is the irony, as an advertiser on Google you must be EXTREMELY PATIENT!
Google will give you traffic on their time. Even if you’re relevant, it is going to test you next to other advertisers and who ever makes them the most money and can be relevant to the users intent wins.
Take this on face value and it may not seem difficult, but add reality in to the mix and that is a completely new ball game. You have to remember when your ad is clicked you pay money, so you may find it hard to NOT make changes. You want to put that copy writing class to work so you jump in and start making changes. Well Google does not like quick change so my advice is…
DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING.
You need to relax; change is not necessarily the answer to your problems. The fact of the matter is you have no idea if your ad is working yet, so you’re going to have to stomach the clicks and let it run. This is why not everyone advertises online. It’s hard! You MUST not exceed your ad budget to test ads as this will kick you out of the game FAST and BROKE!
Split testing will help you gain perspective on you advertising.
Split testing is using different ads out that convey the same message. You can then track which ad is giving you the result you want. One you hit on a winner, money, but unfortunately, split testing is only the beginning. Now the whole purpose of the ad is to entice users to click on them and visit your site. If you have an ad that reads:
Make 100K Today
New Business Launch
Limited Space
And your sight has limited relevance to the ad; you will risk the famed Google slap. It does not matter if you’re in content or search on Google, relevance is the law. Your ad must match the content of your sight. Using the sample from above the, if your site doesn’t have match the ads pitch – Slap.
Now this get’s even better. As I mentioned in part one you are trying to read the mind of your prospect. This is at least this is human to human. Enter Stage right: The Ad Bot.
You have what is basically a robot programmed by a few do determine if your message is relevant to the masses. This is like playing Texas hold’em without the little ESPN™ camera.
The ad bots will skim your site for relevant content to the ad you posted. Now we know that people can and will interoperate things in different ways, and you WILL as I did, build your advertising around this theory. You build a site and run an ad to drive traffic to it based on what you think other humans would think.

Relevance is law of the land in Google country.
